• Hello sorry but my German is not so good so I write in English if that is ok but please feel free to reply back in Deutsch as I can read it with the help of goolge translate perhaps :?

    I have a Schwable from 1980 its a KR51/2 E if that helps
the other day I was riding along when the engine suddenly died 50 meters from my friends garage it just went of like it was an eletrical problem so I checked all that and its sparking fine and has good compression also it would tick over but not rev at all so I cleaned out the carburettor and blew threw the main jet ect but still the same
so I purchased a new Bing Carburettor and fitted it but still the same
also I have checked the points and coil and all is working fine on the electrical side

so what can it be that it will tick over but not rev :strange:

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

Uhhh... translation with Google. I'm not sure if that is really useful. :D

I will try my best to give you some assistance in English.

Have you checked the cogwheel? Is it still in it's original position and is the nut which holds the cogwheel tightened enough?
Maybe you should also check if the ignition system is adjusted correctly.

Or have you already done this far?

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

No I have not touched the timing as it has not moved but I will checked it better tomorrow I think as it could be possible timing problem
could some one point me to a diagram of the timing plate marks please

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

First, as i read the title, I thought this is another spam account. :D
But I'm surprised, your from England and this is a real question. Respect

Try to solve your prolbem. I think the problem is the ignition system.

Here is a picture, where the marks at the right positions are.

Hope I could help you, because my English is not the yellow from the egg :D

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

Thank you no this is not a troll account its just all the useful info for Schwalbe's online is writen in german and I'm unsure of the tecncal terms for it to look for advice
But I will check the marks on my engine later today after re fitting the head and barrels

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

if you're from berlin-> there are many other simsondrivers, who can help you.

i think you've a swallow with a electrical ignition. because of that it must be possible for you to find that part somewhere near the handlebar.

    (mostly it is yellow)
if the ignigtion timing is wrong its not possible to correct is without specialtools. the marks doesnt really help!

is the sparkplug wet if you try to start some times?

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

well after all the head scratching it turns out to be the crankshaft seal (Zimmerring) on the clutch side had fallen out hence the reason it would only tick over
thank you for the advice and perhaps I will be back with another silly question at a later date :rockz:

  • Re: Engine will not Rev

    Hello its me again :D
Its seems the problem has come back again after upgrading the bike from 50cc to putting on a new Barrel and Piston 60cc kit
I have checked and double checked the timing and contact gap all is correct there and it starts really easily ect but it just seems to lack top end power.......???

I am suspecting the bing carburetor now its as I was told that I MAYBE have to change the jet that's in it for a bigger jet but have not yet and also to higher up the the needle would this be correct
