Timing marks for a kr51/1

If you have no marks on your fly wheel, adjust your piston to the top dead center (tdc) and make a mark on the top postion of your fly wheel. Then turn the fly wheel to the left to mark the right ignition timing while transfering the mark from the fly wheel onto the engine housing. The ignition timing has to be 1.5 mm before tdc. Therefore you have to messure the way of the piston from tdc to 1,5 mm before tdc. Preferably you use a dial gauge for messuring the ignition timing. To check the ignition timing a ignition timing pistol is needed. Then you can see if the mark on the fly wheel and the mark on the engine housing fit togehter or not.
Conerning to you second question, the standard needle hight is mostly the third or the fourth notch from above. But it depends on the carburettor.

Thanks for your quick reply seems to run ok but not been tested on the road.does not turn off on the ignition switch? This is new ????
-
That has nothing do to with the ignition itsself. Therefore you have to check your electrical wiring. What kind of ignition do you have?

Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply seems to run ok but not been tested on the road.does not turn off on the ignition switch? This is new ????The brown/white cable on your ignitionswitch is for interrupting the ignition, just look along that cable.
It should end at your Ignition if you have an contact breaker or it ends on your "cdi" if you have an electronic ignition. -
Points system brand new switch??

Ok thanks for the advice.so my problem is the ignition switch does not stop the motor i have replaced the switch and checked the connetions there is no power coming from the switch to the lights or indicators but 6v going in on number 30 my bike is kr51/1 with contactors .engine starts without key.????sorry about the English
-
There has to be a connection between number 31 of the switch and ground. If this doesn't exist, you have to put an electric wire from number 31 of the switch to ground. On number 2 of the switch has to be the brown/white electric wire comming from the igniton (4 elctric wiring comming from the engine housing - one of them is brown/white). If these two cables are do exist, the switch could be broken.

Thanks its got a good ground to 31 but when i test for voltage i get 6v from the switch body .this cannot be right as the switch is attached to the bodywork wich is a ground .the switch is brand new ?
-
Then put the battery of an start your engine again. But normally the battery has nothing to do with the ignition.
-
The batery as been in place all the time i still get a 6 volt reading from the switch body when the engine is not running but no power to the light switch or the infocators could it be a inferior switch it came from AKF .i have had problems when restoring japaneze bikes with chinece parts

Try to read the wiring diagramm find the mistake at your wiring harness.
-
Please figure out if you have not mistaken the numbers on the switch up/down, it's a bit confusing. Try to search for a single wiring point and you can see if you have wired it the right way
